The Moselle and Rhine meet at Deutsches Eck; high above the river, the fortress offers a different focal point from a stroll between the Old Town squares.
Connecting the Old Town and Deutsches Eck
Baroque façades and the town hall shape the scene at Jesuitenplatz. At Görresplatz, the Historiensäule tells the story of 2,000 years of city history. Kunstgässchen connects Münzplatz and Liebfrauenkirche, offering a specific point of reference for a walk away from the main squares.
You can walk to Deutsches Eck through the Old Town or along the Rhine promenade. That is why the actual address is more informative when searching for accommodation than the general label “Koblenz”: check which part of this urban area suits the routes you have planned.
Ehrenbreitstein as a destination in its own right
The fortress stands 118 metres above the Rhine. Its present-day form took shape between 1817 and 1828; the State Museum occupies four exhibition buildings there. If you are interested in the exhibitions, you will plan a different visit from someone mainly seeking views of the city and the river confluence.
The cable car connects the Rhine riverbank with the fortress plateau. Check operating hours and what your ticket includes separately for your travel date. Accommodation does not automatically include a cable car ride or fortress admission.
Plan a separate visit to Stolzenfels
Stolzenfels Castle is in the Koblenz district of the same name. Access involves an uphill walk through the landscape garden designed by Peter Joseph Lenné. The tourist information gives around 20 minutes on foot as a guide. Bear this climb in mind when planning your visit and your journey there.
