Haus Esselt is located directly on the Three Rivers Route and the Hohe Mark Steig hiking trail. From the forecourt of the Pankok Museum, a LandschaftsMalerWeg trail leads through adjacent wooded areas, orchards, and wildflower meadows.
Culture and History
The historic center of Krudenburg preserves buildings associated with Krudenburg’s former character as a village of tow-barge boatmen. The Gartrop Watermill is open to the public as a museum through guided tours and activity days. Its oldest structural components are estimated to date from the 15th century.
At the “Alte Bergschule” Local History Museum, a former classroom has been arranged as it was furnished at the time when students in grades 1 to 8 were taught there. The museum also displays exhibits on household management, agriculture, beekeeping, and wooden-shoe making, as well as on prehistory. A nearly complete mammoth skull found in Gartrop-Bühl was prepared for display at the “Alte Bergschule” Local History Museum.
