Lindlar Leisure Park is a public park covering 5.6 hectares. A network of accessible walking paths runs alongside an idyllic pond. This makes waterside walks one of the options within the park. The same leisure park also has an adventure playground with a tyre swing, slide, zip line and climbing castle. The park therefore offers both walking paths and a range of play equipment. Families can plan their visit around whether they would like to spend more time on the paths or at the playground.
The Stonecutter’s Trail as a themed hike
The Stonecutter’s Trail is a 6.2-kilometre circular hiking route and also the Bergischer Streifzug No. 8. The trail features a total of eight information boards and two audio stations. Guided hikes are also offered, providing background information about quarries, greywacke and the world’s oldest forest. This allows hikers to focus either on the walk itself or on the topics of quarries and greywacke. Travellers with motorhomes have two free parking spaces in Lindlar: at the leisure park or Parkbad, and close to the Lindlar Open-Air Museum and historic town centre. They offer a coin-operated electricity meter as well as water and wastewater facilities.
Fossil hunting in the quarry
During fossil hunts in the Lindlar quarries, visitors can search large blocks of stone for fossils millions of years old, using a hammer and chisel. Unlike a hike that provides background information about quarries and rocks, the focus here is on searching in the rock itself. Fossil hunting is offered to groups and families daily from April through October, except Sundays and public holidays. If you would like to include this activity in your stay, take the stated period and excluded days into account when planning.
Another way to experience the leisure park is through the concerts held there. Free concerts are planned on the park’s own concert area from May to September. The concerts provide a cultural focus alongside the walking paths and playground. As the concerts are described as planned, the specific schedule remains decisive for the period in question.
