Bedburg-Hau: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Since 2007, the historic Prince Maurice Way has connected the former terraced gardens at Kleve Schwanenburg with the tomb of Johann Maurice of Nassau-Siegen at Papenberg in Berg und Tal.

Culture and Trails

The listed access points for hiking are Papenberg on Hauer Straße, Föhrenbach at the municipal centre and town hall, and the information centre of Museum Schloss Moyland; parking is indicated at the latter two locations.

The historic garden landscape around Kleve and its surroundings reflects the work of Johann Maurice of Nassau-Siegen. Schloss Moyland was acquired as a summer residence and redesigned in the Baroque style. Along the cultural landscape, information boards and steles present archaeological finds from Roman and Frankish times and identify St. Markus, Haus Rosendal and Schloss Moyland as important monuments.

Landscape

The Voltaire Way is described as a route from Papenberg to Schloss Moyland that runs over the remains of glacial push moraines from the Saalian glaciation; the landscape is characterised by elevations and lowlands. The avenues radiating from Schloss Moyland into the surrounding landscape were an important design element. This design element can also be found in the Kleve parklands associated with Johann Maurice of Nassau-Siegen.
