Coesfeld: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

Coesfeld's history can be seen at the Walkenbrückentor gate, a surviving relic of the town fortifications dating from the 14th century. The town museum “DAS TOR”, which presents Coesfeld's past, is located inside the gate.

The former synagogue is used for cultural events and exhibitions. Bischofsmühle is a fully functioning museum mill with equipment dating from around 1900. The Natz-Thier House is used as a memorial site. There, the Natz-Thier art and cultural workshop and the Fair Gehandelt shop engage artistically with the work of Natz Thier. The Gabelkreuz is recorded as the oldest cross of its kind in Westphalia.

Landscape

The palace park, also known as Liebfrauenpark, was opened to the public in 1980. In the centre of Coesfeld, the palace park serves as a meeting place and recreational area; cultural events and Sport-im-Park activities also take place there.

Coesfeld lies on the 152-kilometre Baumberge Sandstone Route circular trail. The route leads through a hilly landscape of forests, fields and meadows and connects more than 200 sandstone buildings.

Things to Do

Coesfeld offers art and culture, sports, culinary activities, as well as cycling and hiking tours. The town has self-guided tours that do not require booking, along with free downloadable accompanying materials. The Citadellenweg is a circular trail around and across the former fortress grounds of Ludgerusburg and includes 14 information stations. A night watchman tour leads through winding streets and explores the town's history.

Bicycles can be taken on local buses in the Baumberge region, provided there is space.

Orientation

The Tourist Information office is located in the town hall's citizens' service centre and provides information about Coesfeld and the surrounding region, including hiking and cycling maps. The Innenstadtberkel stream has been made visible through design elements and can be accessed directly via the water.
