The church ruin in Rolofshagen

The sacristy was also used for events. A church publication from 2016 also reports that regular services were held there during that period. Thus, alongside its medieval architectural history, the site’s later cultural and religious use is also part of its story.
Another cultural highlight in Sievertshagen
The two-wheeler museum in Sievertshagen offers a different theme from the church ruin in Rolofshagen. It is privately run and regionally renowned. This means that different interests can be explored within the municipality: a museum related to two-wheelers in one place, and a historic church building and a cycling tour featuring a castle rampart in another. As you plan, consider which of these themes you would like to shape your stay most.
Vorpommern-Rügen as the wider setting
Beyond the municipality, the wider travel destination of Vorpommern-Rügen offers further cultural and landscape attractions. The district is estimated to have around 60 museums. Vorpommern-Rügen includes the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula chain, as well as Rügen and the offshore islands of Hiddensee and Ummanz. The old town of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Historic Centres of Stralsund and Wismar”. On Rügen, the beech forests in Jasmund National Park are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe”. These examples represent the wider region and should be distinguished from specific destinations in the parts of the municipality of Papenhagen.
