Groß Serrahn is a bog in the municipality of Neu Poserin and is located in Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park. Together with Kleiner Serrahn, it forms a 722-hectare nature reserve—the largest in the Goldberg-Mildenitz administrative district.
Schwinzer Heide also extends beyond Neu Poserin: it stretches across the municipalities of Dobbertin and Neu Poserin and the town of Goldberg. At around 10,000 hectares, it is the largest contiguous forest in Ludwigslust-Parchim district. Neu Poserin is therefore part of a wider landscape whose boundaries extend beyond the municipality. Two other nature reserves are located in the northern part of the municipality: Langhagensee Nature Reserve and Dünenkiefernwald Nature Reserve.
