Nossentiner Hütte was first documented in 1751; the name refers to glassworks and tar kilns that existed there at that time.

The municipality rises in the south to the 96.8-metre-high Pickberg, while the terrain drops to 62.4 metres on the shores of Lake Drewitz.
Geographical Location
Nossentiner Hütte is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District, approximately six kilometres north of Malchow and 17 kilometres west of Waren (Müritz), on the eastern and northern shores of Lake Drewitz.
