In the districts of Papiermühle and Schneidemühle, the water power of the Mühlenbach stream was used for paper production as well as for a sawmill and a grain mill. The municipality’s mill history therefore cannot be reduced to a single use.

In Teerofen, pitch and tar were produced from wood from the surrounding forests. This adds the processing of forest timber to the history of the mills. Together, these documented uses show the area’s different resources: the power of the Mühlenbach stream on the one hand, and wood on the other.

The historic buildings in Godendorf-Schneidemühle include Erbmühlgehöft 2. It comprises the miller’s house with an annexe for elderly residents, a paved courtyard, a barn and a half-timbered stable.
