Pölchow is a municipality in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany.

Pölchow lies approximately ten kilometres south of Rostock city centre. The surrounding area is approximately 40 metres higher than the Lower Warnow Valley, which is designated as a landscape conservation area east of Pölchow.

Culture

Pölchow has a historic Rundling settlement form; the settlement was first recorded as “Polchowe” in 1275, while Huckstorf and Wahrstorf were first recorded in 1314 and 1337, respectively.

Because of local clay deposits, brickworks operated in the area from the mid-19th century onwards.
