Two half-timbered houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries stand on Mittelstraße. Sachsenhagen Castle Tower forms part of the ensemble of buildings at Sachsenhagen Castle and was built in 1248. The medieval castle complex can be viewed from the outside. Sachsenhagen Castle is attributed to the 13th century and is first mentioned in 1253 in the Treaty of Hitzacker. The dates refer to different events: 1248 is the year the castle tower was built, while 1253 is the castle’s first recorded mention.

Sachsenhagen’s town hall is also a municipal facility. The wildlife and species conservation station is located in the Sachsenhäger Stadtwald and takes in injured and orphaned wild animals. Tour, route and festival season

Schaumburg as a wider setting
