Radbruch: Hiking Route 4 and Country Festival
Accommodation in Radbruch
Radbruch can be planned around two specific points of interest: the route of Hiking Route 4 and a Country Festival over the Pentecost weekend. This lets you decide whether a walk around the village or a specific event date should shape your stay. The wider Lüneburg travel region offers further options for city, nature and culture activities.
Hiking Route 4 through Radbruch
The first circular route, “Hiking Route 4”, starts at the village shop in the centre of town and heads north to Rottorfer Straße/corner of Hausbach. It then crosses the Rottorfer Bridge and follows the row of orchard trees along Wittorfer Weg back into the village. The outward and return legs therefore pass different named landmarks: out to the road and back along the row of trees. The route project was still in its early stages during the first group hike. If you plan to walk the loop, check the current route before setting out.
Cycling and festival dates
SamBa Tour 1 also continues to Radbruch along a well-maintained path. On the cycle route, you pass a bicycle rest area that is suitable for a picnic. This gives you a second route, described for cycling, alongside the walking route, as well as a potential place to stop along the way.
A Country Festival takes place in Radbruch over the Pentecost weekend. If you would like to plan your stay around it, check the specific event date before booking. The festival and the route planning have different focuses: a fixed weekend on the one hand, and routes on the other.
In the wider Lüneburg travel region
In the city of Lüneburg, city and town hall tours showcase its historic atmosphere, with gabled and brick houses, old lanes and the waterside district. The observation platform of the Lüneburg Water Tower, 56 metres high, offers a different view of the city and its surroundings. The water tower hosts classical concerts at 8 p.m. on the first Sunday of every month and on every full moon. Check the dates before your trip.
For outdoor exercise, Lopausee lake and Lopaupark in Amelinghausen offer a 2.2-kilometre circular route for jogging, walking and Nordic walking. The Queens’ Trail is an 11-kilometre circular hiking route around the heathland village of Amelinghausen. The different route lengths provide a practical guide for planning: a shorter loop by Lopausee or a longer tour around Amelinghausen. Bus 5700 towards Soltau takes you from Lüneburg central station to Amelinghausen bus station in about 35 minutes; check the timetable before travelling.
Prehistory and early history can also be explored at several sites. The erratic boulder circle near Breetze in Bleckede displays boulders as evidence of the Ice Age formation of the Elbe glacial valley. It is freely accessible, and parking is available; check access information before your visit. The megalithic tombs in Schieringer Forest, between Barskamp and Walmsburg, were built during the Neolithic period between 3000 and 2300 BC. A circular hiking trail leads from Walmsburg village square to the tombs.
When looking for a holiday apartment in Radbruch, it helps to first decide what is bringing you here: is the Pentecost weekend with the Country Festival the priority, or would you mainly like to plan your time around walking routes and excursions? If city tours, concerts or destinations in the wider Lüneburg travel region are also part of your plans, coordinate dates and the timetable with your preferred travel period.
