Aulhausen’s pottery tradition is represented by the Aulhausen Pottery Kiln cultural monument near the parish church. The village is described as a former pottery settlement and was first recorded as Ulenhusen in 1108. Aulhausen has the easy Aulhausen Pottery Loop. The circular trail is 4.2 kilometres long and takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. It starts at the car park by the sports field and leads past the pottery kiln, through the Eichbach Valley, across fields, to Marienhausen and past the village churches.

The route description leads across the fields at Gaulskopf towards Kammerforst and mentions views towards Niederwald and Niederwald Hunting Lodge. It describes Kammerforst as part of one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Germany.
