The forest discovery trail at the Acis is free and open year-round. Several activity stations are spread along the approximately 300-metre route. This makes it a clearly defined way to include a nature trail in your day’s plans. At the Acisbrunnen, there is also a forest education trail, a botanical trail and a nature discovery trail. Each of the three routes has a different focus: forests, plants and experiencing nature.

A landscape of its own surrounds Schloss Ramholz, with a park covering approximately 80 hectares. Small buildings and a pavilion are part of the park, giving visitors more than one place to explore. At Burg Brandenstein, the wooden implements museum displays around 800 exhibits of wooden household and agricultural tools used in rural life. Another guided tour of the castle explores Philipp Franz von Siebold’s studies of Japan and his efforts to promote the exchange of scientific knowledge between Europe and Japan.

At the Bergwinkel Museum, selected exhibits invite visitors to take part; these include a model railway on the third floor. For reasons related to heritage protection, the museum is not accessible to visitors with limited mobility. This is important to keep in mind when planning your visit. Burg Brandenstein also offers beer brewing demonstrations using historical equipment. A rustic meal may be offered as part of the experience.

Herbs and Culinary Experiences

On the herb walk “Out and About with the Herb Witch,” you’ll learn how plants in the surrounding area can be used and what they are suitable for. After the walk, a tasting of wild herb delicacies may be available for an additional €3 per person. The tasting is therefore an optional extra, not an automatic part of every walk.
