Kleinzerlang is a destination for anyone who likes to begin their holiday by the water while also discovering nature, outdoor activities and village history. The village is located on a peninsula that is surrounded by natural and man-made bodies of water on 75% of its perimeter. Kleinzerlang is also situated at an important crossroads of waterways. This special location shapes the options for your trip: you can focus on paddling tours and boating experiences, explore paths through the landscape or plan quieter discoveries in the village.

Waterways for Different Types of Holiday Days

The Rheinsberg Lake Chain canoe station is located in Kleinzerlang on Lake Kleiner Pälitzsee at “Boot und Mehr”. Canoes, small motorboats and rafts are available there. Anyone who wants to get to know the surroundings from the water will find various options for an active day. The public landing stage at the municipal beach offers electricity, fresh water, toilets and showers. When choosing a holiday apartment or holiday home, this proximity to the water can be an important point of reference if boating experiences are a firm part of your travel plans.

A circular waterway route of around 520 km can also be started from Kleinzerlang. The route leads via Lake Kleiner Pälitzsee, Lake Müritz, the Elbe, the Havel, Berlin’s waterways and the Lower and Upper Havel Waterway, and is estimated to take around 12 days. This is a completely different form of travel from a single excursion: if you are planning a longer tour, the village marks the start of an extensive network of interconnected waterways. Wolfsbruch Lock regulates the water level between Lake Großer Prebelowsee and Lake Kleiner Pälitzsee and has been converted into a self-service lock.

Nature Between Lakes, Forests and Paths

Kleinzerlang also offers specific destinations for planning your day away from the water. At the bathing area on Lake Kleiner Pälitzsee, there is a longer strip of meadow with rows of trees and changing huts. Information boards in and around Kleinzerlang point out hiking trails. Cycle paths lead through meadows, forests, canals and lakes. In the region, the “Laufpark Stechlin” adds marked running and hiking trails to this selection, including distance information.

A striking natural feature is the “Old Beech” on Neumühler Weg. It consists of seven red beeches that have grown together. At a height of approximately 1.30 metres, the total circumference is around 4.6 metres. Such distinctive individual destinations give a cycling tour or walk a specific purpose without requiring the day to be devoted exclusively to a sporting route. Kleinzerlang is also located in Stechlin-Ruppiner Land Nature Park. Here, recreation, environmentally compatible use of the land and waterways, and the preservation of the region’s natural resources are brought together.

Village Church and Places of Remembrance

The village church in Kleinzerlang is part of the area’s history. It is listed in the heritage register of the state of Brandenburg and bears inventory number 09170286. Seasonal opening hours for visitors apply from 1 May to 31 October, daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The old bell has been given a place of honour in the village’s Old Churchyard; it is considered the oldest object in Kleinzerlang’s church history. Thus, alongside water and nature, the village also offers a quieter cultural point of interest.

Which Accommodation Suits Your Travel Plans?

When looking for accommodation in Kleinzerlang, it is worth deciding on your preferred daily rhythm first. Anyone who wants to go paddling, travel by small motorboat or begin a longer journey along the waterways can base their plans on the water-based options and landing stages mentioned above. For varied days, these interests can be combined with cycle paths, hiking trails, the bathing area and the village church. If observing nature and making short discoveries are the main priorities, the “Old Beech”, the nature park and the paths through meadows, forests, canals and lakes become more central. A holiday apartment or holiday home should above all suit your personal type of travel and the planned alternation between active and quieter days.
