Geographical Location

Eschenlohe lies north of the Estergebirge at the point where the Loisach Valley emerges from the Alps. In the municipal area, the Mühlbach and Eschenlaine flow into the Loisach; north of the village lies the Murnauer Moos.

History

The historical origins of Eschenlohe are associated with a castle belonging to the Counts of Eschenlohe. From 1332 until secularization in 1803, the village belonged to the Murnau district of Ettal Abbey.

Nature

The Sieben rise south of Eschenlohe; from there, there are views of the Zugspitze and parts of the Werdenfelser Land.

The Sieben are characterized by clear spring basins in which the water rising from the springs below can be seen bubbling up.
