Churches and chapels in several villages

In Oberwarngau, the parish church of St. John the Baptist stands on the church hill, locally known as “Kirchbichl.” Its name and location make the church hill a distinctive landmark in the village’s history. In Wall, the present-day parish church of St. Margaret offers a different perspective on architectural history: it was built in the early 16th century and is, in its basic structure, a late Gothic tuff-stone building.

Smaller religious buildings also preserve specific historical traces. St. Michael’s Chapel in Hinterberg was consecrated in 1758. The Nüchternbrunn pilgrimage chapel is in the forest and was established around 1710 from a wooden hermitage. In Einhaus, the village chapel of St. John is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Those interested in religious architecture and the different periods in which it was built will find several distinct destinations here, rather than just one central attraction.

Swimming pond and winter trails

The municipality’s man-made swimming pond is on the outskirts of Osterwarngau. It is fed by natural spring water from Taubenberg and is 2.20 metres deep at its deepest point. For summer planning, bear in mind that swimming conditions can vary by season. Nearby, in the Taubenberg area, there is also a 30-metre-high historic observation tower built from limestone blocks. The City of Munich had the tower built between 1910 and 1911.

In winter, you can choose between two cross-country ski trails. The 5-kilometre trail in Warngau has access points at the sports field and Brandweg. The trail in Wall is 7.5 kilometres long, with access at the sports facility in Wall. The difference in length helps with day planning, while snow conditions remain decisive for whether the trails can be used. The two trails, with their different lengths and access points, can help guide your choice of holiday apartment.

Miesbach’s hiking trails offer different ways to get active. The mindfulness mountain trail on Stadlberg starts above Kleinthal, is approximately 3 kilometres long and passes seven stations. The themes include mindful awareness, walking and breathing, gratitude, observing nature and a simple mindfulness exercise from yoga. Two other routes can be compared by difficulty and duration: the family-friendly “Through the Lower Wies” circular route is easy, 8.0 kilometres long and takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The family-friendly Stadlberg circular route is rated as moderately difficult, measures 8.1 kilometres and takes 2 hours and 30 minutes; a place to stop for refreshments is listed for both routes.

The Green Market in Miesbach may also be useful when planning your day: it is held on Thursdays from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the market square. If Thursday is a public holiday, the market takes place on the preceding Wednesday. Check the dates, especially around public holidays.
