Ippesheim combines winegrowing, hiking trails and a special insight into the town’s history. At Bullenheimer Berg in Bullenheim, which belongs to the Markt Ippesheim municipality, lies Middle Franconia’s only grape variety trail. The grape varieties grown there are explained in detail. The trail is a destination in its own right for anyone who wants to learn more about the diversity of grape varieties as well as enjoy a wine tasting.

Hikes from Ippesheim

The hiking trails start in Ippesheim at Lichtenstein Castle. Depending on your stamina, they take about one to three hours and lead through the fields and vineyards, along the Iff from mill to mill, or up to Frankenberg. The approximate duration also provides a guide for planning your day.

For culinary discoveries, Aischgrund mirror carp is a local speciality in Neustadt an der Aisch. It is served from September to April, including crispy fried or poached in broth. The Aischgrund Carp Foodie Weeks, held annually from 1 September to 1 November, take place at selected restaurants in the district; check which establishments are participating before your trip.
