Geographical Location
Griesstätt is a municipality on the River Inn in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim. The parish village lies east of the Inn, about 19 km north of Rosenheim and 8 km south of Wasserburg am Inn; Prien am Chiemsee is about 22 km to the southeast.
History
Griesstätt was first mentioned in 924 in the Rhini document of Duke Arnulf I of Bavaria.
The municipality is home to the Altenhohenau Dominican Convent, which acquired the small Hofmark of Laiming in the mid-14th century; the Hofmark of Griesstätt belonged to Altenhohenau from 1667 until secularisation in 1803.
