History

Etzenricht was first documented in 1270 and is recorded as “Aechswinreuth” in 1283. It is recorded that Jan Hus passed through Etzenricht in 1414 on his journey to the Council of Constance.

In Etzenricht, Protestant and Catholic services were held in the same church until the Catholic church was completed in 1932.

Railway construction reached Etzenricht in 1875; in 1877, the town received its own railway station.
