East of Tennenlohe lies the Tennenlohe Forest. The 936-hectare nature reserve is one of the last large sandy ecosystems in southern Germany. Its landscape includes sandy grasslands, heathland, pine forest and interglacial sand dunes. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Tennenlohe can then continue their accommodation search.

The Tennenlohe Forest is suitable for walks and cycling tours. Cycling is permitted on the paved gravel roads, but not on the unpaved paths beside or within the horse enclosure. Walking along the horse enclosure is described as safe in decontaminated areas. At Kugelfangwall, a crossing leads over the enclosure. Because of its former military use, visitors must remain on the designated paved paths.

The area surrounding Tennenlohe is home to Hallerschloss Puckenhof, Kalchreuth Castle, Kalchreuth Manor House and Geisberg. Franken II Power Station and Wagnersberg are located near Tennenlohe. Further afield in the wider region around Tennenlohe are Rodenstein and Hohle Kirche.
