Pellheim has preserved its village character and is surrounded by meadows, fields and orchards. Historic buildings, the parish church of St. Ursula and a walking and cycling path to Walpertshofen give visitors several points of interest during their stay. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can consider whether the rural surroundings, the architectural history or a walking and cycling connection matters most to you.

Village character and path connection

A walking and cycling path connects Pellheim with Walpertshofen. The route is just under two kilometres long and joins an existing walking and cycling path that continues to Hebertshausen S-Bahn station. This means you can consider both the connection to Walpertshofen and the onward route towards the station. This is a practical consideration when planning your trip if you want to include Pellheim and the path connection in your accommodation search.

The landscape of meadows, fields and orchards frames Pellheim’s village character. Together with its historic buildings, this makes Pellheim a place whose distinctive features can be explored through both its surroundings and individual architectural details. These different points of interest can help you decide whether Pellheim is the right destination and tailor your search for a holiday apartment to your interests.

St. Ursula Church and historical traces

Today’s parish church of St. Ursula was built in 1689, retaining medieval masonry. The lower section of its 48-metre-high church tower preserves old Gothic and possibly even Romanesque masonry. Three of the four bells date from around 1490 and from 1599 and 1629. The church stands in the village of Pellheim, surrounded by a walled cemetery. Tours of St. Ursula can be requested or arranged through the St. Jakob parish office; check what is available before your trip.

Other buildings and commemorative features also bring the history of the village to life. The Bavarian List of Monuments (as of 18 August 2026) records the castle site of the medieval and early modern “Schloss Pellheim” as a monument. A historical account reports that the former castle, with its three towers, once stood above the entire village. The list also includes the impressive historic inn at Dorfstraße 4–6, a building with a hipped roof dating from 1750, and the rectory at Dorfstraße 7. The rectory also has a hipped roof; its core is believed to date from the 18th century.

A wayside cross dating from the mid-19th century stands in front of the building at Goppertshofer Straße 10. A house at this address bears a Dachau house plaque on its gable, dated 1843. A hipped roof has sloping roof surfaces on the gable ends as well; this roof form is shared by the inn and the rectory, while their documented dates point to different periods. Details like these offer a tangible insight into Pellheim’s architectural history.

Bavarian cuisine in Pellheim

Gasthaus Liegsalz serves Bavarian cuisine and welcomes guests for meals and celebrations in its large hall. Alongside the landscape and architecture, food is another aspect you can take into account when choosing Pellheim as a holiday destination.

Dachau as a complementary cultural context

The wider destination of Dachau has its own focus on art and urban history. The permanent collection of the Dachau Picture Gallery comprises landscape and genre paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries. With around 200 paintings and a selection of sculptures, it illustrates the origins and development of landscape painting in Dachau, from its beginnings well into the 20th century; the focus is on the Dachau artists’ colony, which flourished around 1900. A roof terrace added in 2005 as part of renovation work is situated high above Dachau’s old town.

The Dachau District Museum presents the cultural history of the town of Dachau and the district across three floors. These art and museum offerings form a distinct cultural context in Dachau. Pellheim itself offers different points of interest for trip planning, with its village character, historic buildings and connection towards Walpertshofen.
