Mittelstetten offers two distinct highlights: the late Gothic parish church of St. Silvester with its visual art, and suggestions for hikes and cycling tours. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can consider whether church art or outdoor activities will play a greater part in your stay.

St. Silvester: Architecture and Iconography

The parish church of St. Silvester in Mittelstetten is a late Gothic hall church with a saddle-roof tower on the north side. Inside the church, two scenes are depicted in relief: the Resurrection and the Ascension of Christ. In this way, the architecture and iconography offer distinct cultural aspects.

The choir windows also have their own highlights: they depict Silvester at the center, as well as Sebastian and Stephanus, the patron saints of the churches in Oberdorf and Tegernbach. Both the reliefs and the windows, with their varied depictions of saints, are worth noting when exploring the church’s art.

Hiking, Cycling and Golf

A flyer produced in 2017 by the Dorfbelebung Mittelstetten e.V. association suggests six hikes through the municipality of Mittelstetten. The proposed routes follow existing local roads and field paths, including paths used by agricultural vehicles. This is a helpful consideration when planning your tours.

The municipality also describes cycling tours that are directly accessible from Mittelstetten, with route descriptions and distances. Unlike the six hiking suggestions, the cycling tour descriptions also give the route distances. When planning to explore on foot and by bike, you can therefore take account of different details without assuming that every cycling tour starts in Mittelstetten.

Tegernbach Golf Course is located at Kapellenweg 1, 82293 Mittelstetten-Tegernbach. Golf is therefore another activity to consider when choosing your destinations.

The Fürstenfeldbruck Museum is housed in the former monastery brewery and explores, among other things, the work of the “white monks” of the Cistercian Order. On the Fürstenfeld monastery grounds, the abbey church of the Assumption of Mary is considered one of the country’s most magnificent Baroque churches. The museum and church thus offer different insights into the cultural history of the wider destination.

The Fürstenfeld Veranstaltungsforum hosts markets, trade fairs and balls, as well as performances ranging from early music and Klaviersommer to blues, jazz, dance, shows and cabaret. The specific events programme changes, so check the dates for the events that interest you.

Nature and outdoor activities are also part of the region: a signposted circular trail through Haspelmoor starts at Haspelmoor railway station. As local trail conditions can change, check them before setting out. The Fürstenfeldbruck district also offers a wide range of hiking and cycling tours. There are 800 free, accessible parking spaces at the Fürstenfeld monastery grounds; check the details before travelling.

When looking for a holiday apartment, it is worth comparing the different highlights: Mittelstetten combines St. Silvester with local tour suggestions, while the wider Fürstenfeldbruck destination offers additional museums, churches, events and nature. Discover other destinations: Landsberied.
