Historic traces in Wirsberg
The listed ensemble on the market square includes a historic half-timbered town hall and the Wappenrose Fountain. The Baroque St. Johannis Margrave Church also features striking details: its furnishings include a pulpit altar and the oil painting “The Ten Commandments.” Different forms of historic design stand side by side in the town, from half-timbered buildings to a Baroque church interior.
Other landmarks date back to the Middle Ages. The Terrassenturmhügel was a keep dating from the 11th century; the moat and terraced central mound have survived. Near Neufang, the freestanding end wall is all that remains of the former 15th-century Heilingskirche pilgrimage church. The sandstone bridge over the Schorgast is a technical monument dating from 1711. Bavaria’s first imperial monument, dating from 1889, stands on Theresienhöhe, which offers a sweeping view.
Summer pool, hiking trails and cycling route
The seasonally open Wirsberg summer pool has a 117-metre-long giant water slide. The pool complex also includes heated children’s pools, as well as a non-swimmer pool and a swimmer pool. The slide and different types of pools give the swimming facilities their own character alongside the town’s historic landmarks. If you are planning a day at the pool, take its seasonal opening into account.
For hiking days, there are two award-winning circular hiking trails to choose from in the municipality: the Franzosenweg and the Goldener-Falk-Weg. Check the current route status before setting off. A cycling route leads from Wirsberg to the source of the Main in the High Fichtel Mountains. The different options can be chosen according to the activity you prefer, without assuming a specific length for either hiking trail.

There is an e-bike charging station next to St. Johannis Church at the civic centre. Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg station is served several times a day from various directions; buses operated by public transport run from the station in Neuenmarkt to Wirsberg several times a day.
