They are mostly made of wax and originate from votive offerings left over the course of centuries. Hiking Trail and Castle
The Balthasar Neumann circular hiking trail runs along roads and paths in and around Gößweinstein. These five named points give the trail a clear sequence of destinations, while its route also extends beyond the town. The castle stands above Gößweinstein in Franconian Switzerland and is also a destination on the circular trail. In principle, it can be explored independently, but it is currently closed. Water: Swimming Spot and Kayak Tours
Gößweinstein’s high-altitude swimming pool is a natural swimming spot with biological water treatment and serves as a swimming and bathing pond. It offers a different kind of water experience from a river tour. Leinen Los offers kayak tours on the Wiesent; availability may vary. A sunrise kayak tour with Leinen Los starts at Behringersmühle station in Gößweinstein and follows the route via Sachsenmühle for around 8.2 kilometres to Muggendorf. The route has an easy whitewater character and is also suitable for beginners. It therefore extends beyond Gößweinstein. The operator lists a season from May to September for this tour; check seasonal availability before making plans. This lets you distinguish between a swimming spot in town and a longer guided route with river sections.
Climbing and Other Activities
There are well over 400 established climbing routes in the Gößweinstein market municipality. Climbing is therefore a distinct focus alongside hiking and water activities. Visitors can play soccer golf and disc golf at Leinen Los’s event grounds in Gößweinstein. You can also learn archery there in an introductory course.
