Eichendorf is located in the Bavarian administrative district of Lower Bavaria and in the district of Dingolfing-Landau at an elevation of approximately 355 metres.

History

The history of Eichendorf as a market town includes a reconciliation meeting between Emperor Louis the Bavarian and Duke Henry of Lower Bavaria in 1334, as well as the granting of a fourth annual market in 1512.

Its historical heritage also includes the fact that the church survived when Swedish troops destroyed the town in 1639 and 1648. The present-day political municipality was formed in 1818, and Eichendorf was elevated to a parish in 1896.
