Asten: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Astner Moos nature reserve lies south of Asten in a large glacial kettle hole. Its terminal moraine pond and the surrounding wetland have been protected since 1987; the protected area is accessible to pedestrians along its edge.

Nature

Astner Moos is a habitat and resting place for birds, including warblers and pochards, as well as a habitat for amphibians, reptiles and dragonflies. The Ice Age circular trail is a hiking trail where visitors can learn about the pond and its formation in connection with the Salzach Glacier.

The surrounding area of Asten includes Taching am See, St. Coloman near Tengling, Ameisenberg and Krebsenberg. The wider regional area around Asten includes the Stierling Chapel and Wölfelsberg. Perach, with the Catholic Church of the Assumption of St. Mary, is also located in this wider regional area.

Culture

The Church of the Assumption of St. Mary in Asten contains two side altars from 1662, a Rococo high altar by J. G. Itzlfeldner from 1747, a Rococo tabernacle from 1765, as well as Gothic furnishings on the sacristy doors and at the south portal.
