From the 25 m-high platform of the Büchlberg observation tower, the 360-degree panorama extends south to the Alps and the Dachstein massif. To the north, the view takes in the main peaks of the Bavarian Forest, including Rachel, Lusen and Dreisessel. The tower is on the “Büchlberger eight” hiking trail, so the viewpoint and named hiking trail are directly connected.
The old quarry also tells the story of a changing landscape: today, a deep lake lies there. The quarry is designated a landscape conservation area and is intended to be preserved as an extensive natural monument. The lake, its former use and its conservation objective offer different perspectives on the same place.

Cycling and Routes in Büchlberg
The municipality’s cycling options include the Büchlberger Mühlenradweg, the Kapellenradweg, “Rund um Büchlberg,” the Denkhof mountain bike loop and the Lichtenauer mountain bike loop. Two of the five named routes are explicitly mountain bike loops; the other three have their own route names. This gives you an initial way to sort the options by name without treating all the routes as the same.
The bike park in Büchlberg offers a different kind of cycling. Covering around 2,000 m², it has tables, kickers and a pump track for practising, trying things out and watching. This makes it possible to distinguish between two options when planning: named routes on the one hand, and a facility with specific features on the other.
The Bergholz Büchlberg motor skills park can be reached via the municipal garden behind the town hall. From there, the path follows Carl-Kerber-Straße to the turning area and continues to the entrance to Bergholz. Free e-bike hire is also available to holiday guests and local residents. The Erlau-Stub’n at the Museum Musikleben Büchlberg can be used as a stage for musicians and singers. This adds a cultural venue to the outdoor options. Events may vary depending on the programme.

The Passau region is shaped by rivers, forests and thermal spas; well-known thermal springs are located in Bad Füssing and Bad Griesbach. In Tittling, the Bavarian Forest Museum Village is one of Europe’s largest open-air museums.
