Herrischried offers several ways to enjoy a stay: a barefoot path runs alongside the Kneipp footbath, walking circuits offer a different kind of exercise, and the Klausenhof combines architectural history with traditional glassmaking. The activities differ in both their focus and the way you can spend your day. If you want to bring together different interests for several travelers, you can choose between trails, a historic house and a craft.

Trails with different focuses

A barefoot path runs alongside the Kneipp footbath. The Hotzenwald Nordic Walking Center offers three Nordic walking circuits measuring 4, 6 and 9 km. These distances make it easy to compare the routes: when choosing a circuit, you can start by considering how far you want to walk.

The Murgtal Trail connects the municipalities of Murg, Rickenbach and Herrischried. Unlike the walking circuits, it focuses on linking the three municipalities. When choosing a route, you can decide whether to take a circuit with a specified distance or explore the Murgtal Trail, which connects the municipalities.

Klausenhof: Architectural History and Glassmaking

The Klausenhof dates from 1424 and combines living and working areas under one roof. Its single roof brings the two functions of the house together in one architectural form. Preservation is also part of its history: the farmstead in Herrischried-Großherrischwand stood uninhabited for a long time and was saved from further decay.

At the glass workshop next to the Klausenhof, visitors can watch the glassblower at work and try the traditional craft themselves under his expert guidance. Watching and trying it yourself are two different ways to experience glassmaking. If you plan to visit the workshop, it is best to confirm the current visitor arrangements in advance.

Activities at the Sports and Leisure Center

The Herrischried Sports and Leisure Center has two tennis courts; rackets and balls can be rented on site. If tennis is part of your plans, it is best to confirm current access and rental availability before your visit. An adventure playground is located right next to the mini-golf course at the Sports and Leisure Center. The activities offer different experiences: tennis centers on playing your own match, while the playground is notable for its location next to the mini-golf course.

An urban contrast in Waldshut

In the wider Waldshut destination, Kaiserstraße offers a different perspective on culture in public spaces. When the street became a pedestrian zone in 1989, the town stream was returned to the middle of the street and three fountains were rebuilt. This contrasts with the Klausenhof in Herrischried: here, the focus is on redesigning a street with a stream and fountains; there, on a historic house with living and working areas.

When looking for a holiday apartment, you can start with what you want to focus on during your stay: would you like walking and the Murgtal Trail to shape your trip, or are you particularly interested in the Klausenhof and glassmaking? Tennis and the nearby leisure activities offer other options, too.
