Culture

Glashütte is closely associated with glassmaking. In 1701, a glassworks was founded here with the permission of the Hohenzollern prince and Wald Abbey. It remained in operation until 1881; its buildings were subsequently demolished in 1887.

History

The settlement developed around the glassworks as its workers settled nearby. As a result, the village's historical identity is closely connected with glass production and the use of the forest.
