The Aldingen Museum: visits by arrangement
The Aldingen Museum currently has no regular opening hours. Visits are possible by arrangement only, by emailing gemeinde@aldingen.de. Arrange your visit in advance using this email address. That way, you can include the museum visit in your plans rather than assuming it will be open on a regular opening day.
In the wider destination of Tuttlingen
The district of Tuttlingen covers a total area of 734.4 square kilometres and includes the southwestern foothills of the Swabian Alb, parts of the Baar and the valley of the young Danube. The northern part of the district is home to juniper heaths and the region of the “10 Tausender,” with ten mountains over 1,000 metres high.
White limestone cliffs rise above the Danube Valley in the district of Tuttlingen. Other scenic highlights in the district include the Danube gorge and the Höwenegg volcanic crater.
The Danube Sink between Immendingen, Möhringen, Tuttlingen and Fridingen can look different from day to day. In some places, the Danube carries a lot of water; in others, it is completely dry or carries only a little water. Its appearance therefore depends on the water conditions at the time. For those who would like to experience this landscape on foot, the wider destination of Tuttlingen also offers the premium hiking trail “Donauversinkung,” which runs between Tuttlingen-Möhringen and Immendingen.
Another hiking route is the final section of the Albsteig: it leads over the Rußberg, past the Bettelmannskeller and the Nonnehöhle cave near Wurmlingen, directly to Tuttlingen. Tuttlingen-Nendingen is also home to the two-kilometre “Rock- & Roll-Tour,” a walking and hiking trail designated as suitable for wheelchair users. It is largely barrier-free and fully wheelchair-accessible; check local conditions before setting out.
Cultural attractions and seasonal activities are also among the options in the region. The Neuhausen ob Eck Open-Air Museum features 25 historic buildings that were dismantled at their original locations, moved there and restored to their original condition. At Rabenfels in the Bäratal, the climbing areas in the district of Tuttlingen between the routes “Mister Wendl” and “Gebrüderweg” are open from 1 August to 31 December.
