The history of the present-day church can be traced through two events in 1880. The previous church was demolished in spring while the present-day St. Laurentius Church was being built. The foundation stone of the Roman Catholic parish church was laid on 27 July 1880.
One striking feature of the building is its tower: it is 56.6 m high to the top. There is also a distinctive artistic detail inside the church. The choir contains an abstract cast-glass window by Romuald Hengstler.
