Biberach: Hiking Trails, Herb Garden and History
Accommodation in Biberach
Biberach and its district of Prinzbach offer plenty of ways to spend your holiday: well-marked hiking trails, historic sites, an herb garden and leisure activities. Before looking for a holiday apartment, you can decide whether you would like to spend most of your time outdoors, learn more about local history or combine different experiences.
Hiking Trails and Outdoor Activities
Biberach and Prinzbach have numerous well-marked hiking trails for both energetic and leisurely hikes. Two historic circular trails lead through Biberach and Prinzbach. So, alongside hiking, local history and historical landmarks are also options to consider when planning your trip. Check current trail conditions before setting out.
Alpaca trekking tours are available at Bechererhof by prior arrangement. If you would like to include this experience in your plans, check availability and make arrangements directly with the operator before your visit. Waldterrassenbad Biberach offers a different kind of experience: the heated pool is located outside the village in a peaceful spot near the edge of the forest, with a view of Biberach.
There is also an option for a leisure break in town: the bocce court in Bahnhofspark is next to the mini golf course and is free for everyone to use. Check the conditions on site before using the court. The herb garden of the Prinzbach-Schönberg rural women’s association is right beside the historic town wall in Biberach-Prinzbach. With more than 100 plants, it adds another, botanical side to the town.
Discover Prinzbach’s Historic Sites
A section of the town wall has been excavated behind the town hall in Prinzbach. It is a reminder of Prinzbach’s past as a silver-mining town. The former town hall in Prinzbach is also home to the Stadtkammer, with finds and objects from the history of the former mining town. Visits are possible by request; please arrange your visit in advance.
Another way to explore local history is to visit the Kettererhaus local history museum. The Kettererhaus is named after its last private owner, the “Kettererschmied,” and is considered one of Biberach’s oldest buildings. The museum displays local cultural artifacts relating to rural work, home life, customs and clubs, as well as historical toys. Its themes range from everyday life and community to toys from times gone by.
These different themes can help you plan your visit without prescribing a particular order for your activities.
