Discover Münstertal/Schwarzwald
Accommodation in Münstertal/Schwarzwald
Münstertal/Schwarzwald combines sacred architecture and mining in its local history with woodland themes and a striking mountain landscape. At 1,414 m, Belchen towers above the valley below and the surrounding region; the temperature in the Teufelsgrund visitor mine is 8 °C year-round. There are also activity stations on the family trail and a museum whose themes range from mining to settlement history. This mix gives you several specific starting points for planning your holiday. When looking for a holiday apartment, it may help to first consider whether cultural history, hands-on activities or the landscape should take centre stage.

Sacred history, the museum and mining
The Baroque parish church of St. Trudpert, together with the monastery, is the fourth sacred building on this site and dates back to a foundation in the 9th century. St. Trudpert was also elevated to the status of a pilgrimage site by Pope Celestine III in 1192. The foundation and its elevation to a pilgrimage site took place in different centuries, giving the church and monastery’s history a long historical span.
The Münstertal Museum offers a different set of themes: it covers the history of mining, forestry and settlement, as well as local history in the Münstertal in the Black Forest. Founded as a forest museum in 1980, it opened in Münstertal Town Hall in 2015 under the name “Münstertal Museum – Museum of Mining, Forestry, Settlement and Local History in the Münstertal.” Sacred history sits alongside the history of mining, forests and settlements here.
Böhnisch Tannery is a tannery and fur shop in Münstertal. The Teufelsgrund visitor mine also adds a practical aspect to the history of the area: the temperature there is 8 °C year-round. A jacket and sturdy footwear are recommended for your visit. This is a specific tip to help you prepare, distinct from the historical themes at St. Trudpert and in the museum.
Hands-on activities and mountain scenery
The Münstertal family trail offers activity stations where you can climb, do long jumps, practise throwing accurately and play marbles. The different activities give your outing a focus that differs from the sacred and local history: here, the emphasis is on hands-on activities rather than a historical overview.
Belchen offers another perspective. At 1,414 m, it towers above the valley below and the surrounding region. Together with the information that the temperature in the visitor mine stays the same year-round, these describe two different sides of the destination: the mountain landscape and practical visitor information for your time in the mine.
Choose a holiday apartment to suit your interests
This mix can be a starting point when choosing a holiday apartment: consider whether you would like to give more weight in your itinerary to sacred and local history, the family trail’s activity stations or the landscape around Belchen. The cultural themes also offer different points of focus: St. Trudpert represents sacred history, while the museum covers the history of mining, forestry and settlement, as well as local history in the Münstertal.
