The church of Saint-Avre preserves Romanesque reliefs on its exterior façade and a Romanesque bell tower. The church also contains two statues of Saint Peter and Saint Avre dating from 1682. At the entrance to Saint-Avre, a mining cart is on display as a preserved testimony to Saint-Avre’s mining past. Along the Nantuel mountain stream, veins of lead, copper and zinc have been exploited since Roman times and later under the Saracens.
There is a TER ticket machine at Saint-Avre-la-Chambre station.

Culinary Delights
The Ferme Cartier produces “Tomme de Saint Avre” and “Beaufort”. Ferme Cartier offers tours by appointment. Every day, it sells cheese and regional products directly.
The recently restored communal bread oven of Saint-Avre is used on Easter Sunday to bake traditional bread in the old-fashioned way, which is sold by the village activities committee.
Things to Do
The “From La Chambre Station to the Grande Léchère Refuge” route passes through Saint-Avre. The village also has short walking paths at the foot of the mountain and an outdoor pétanque court.
