Myans: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Guided tours of the Notre-Dame de Myans sanctuary are organised on request for families, groups or individuals. Its crypt houses the Black Madonna; until the Revolution, the upper church served the Franciscans.

Culture

Myans developed into an important Marian pilgrimage site. Popular belief attributes to the Black Madonna the protection of the area during the landslide of Mont Granier on 24/25 November 1248.

In the vicinity of Myans are the Artothèque de Chambéry, a museum, Les Charmettes, a historical site, Fort Barraux, a fortress, and the Abbaye du Betton, a historical site.

Landscape

Myans is characterised by rocky hills and scree slopes resulting from the collapse of Mont Granier in 1248. The small chapel of Myans, with the Black Madonna, stands on a moraine ridge left by the glaciers of the Quaternary, which served as a natural barrier against the landslide.

In the immediate vicinity of Myans are the Sommet de Montgelas, a summit, and the Roche du Guet, a summit. The surrounding area of Myans also includes Mont Granier, a mountain, and Mont de Joigny, a mountain.

Wine and Agriculture

The guided hike “Randonnée accompagnée de vignes en lacs” starts in Myans and leads visitors to discover the wine heritage of Cœur de Savoie and the region’s lakes. It combines wine-growing and natural heritage and can end with a visit to the Aux Fruits de la Treille winery.

Aux Fruits de la Treille is a wine-growing business in Myans and is recognised as a “Ferme pédagogique”. It offers Savoie wines, including Acquère AOC Cru Abymes, Jacquère AOC Cru Chignin, AOC Chardonnay, the Roussanne AOC Chignin-Bergeron grape variety, traditionally produced wines, as well as Rosé Cuvée Laura and red wine Cuvée Chloé. Fruit juices made from grapes, apple and grapes, as well as sparkling grape juice, are also offered.

As an educational farm, Aux Fruits de la Treille offers activities involving observation and description, as well as participation in growing or processing a product.
