The Maison de la Béate is the only habitable Béate house still remaining in the Pilat canton. It showcases the history of the village and former rural life. A different exhibition is held every year in the former classroom.
Culture and History
The hamlet of Temple also bears witness to the history of the village: it provided accommodation for pilgrims on the Way of St James.
The La Faye site was an agricultural production centre that was innovative for its time; the scientific and agricultural facility there produced buttermilk. A sawmill at the La Faye site was also powered by an ingenious hydraulic system.

Hiking and Cycling
The hiking trails of the Parc du Pilat in Marlhes are maintained and signposted by the municipality of Marlhes. The Le Rosey–Chaussitre–La Béate route is designated as Hiking Trail No. 3.
The Sentier d’interprétation du Sapée is an interactive trail focused on agriculture in Haut-Pilat. It is 3.2 km long and takes about one hour.
The Chapelle et maison natale Marcellin Champagnat site is the starting point for Parc hiking trail No. 10.
Virons Vélo offers four signposted, family-friendly circular routes of 4.8, 4.9, 8.5 and 12 km, running along paths and minor roads.
Geographical Setting
Near Marlhes, there is an orientation table at an altitude of 1,220 m offering remarkable views of the Yssingelais and Haute-Loire; access is via the RD 501.
