The Maison du Patrimoine et de la Mesure also showcases La Talaudière’s mining heritage through a miners’ house that is open to visitors. The Mines de la Chazotte played a major role in the founding and development of La Talaudière; they closed in January 1968.
Another cultural venue, the Micro-Folie La Talaudière, is open to everyone. The Maison de la Nature welcomes all groups of visitors. It is a venue for exhibitions, documentation and environmental education in the immediate vicinity of the landscape pond.
Several historically significant sites can be found around La Talaudière: Château de Fontanes, a castle, Abbaye de Valbenoîte, a historic site, Château de Saint-Victor-sur-Loire, a castle, and Essalois Castle, a historic site.
Geographical Setting
La Talaudière lies in the Onzon valley. In the wider region around La Talaudière are Crêt de la Perdrix, a mountain, Crêt du Bois Graizé, a mountain, Crêt de l'Arnica, a mountain, and Crêt de la Chèvre, a mountain.
A walk along the banks of the Onzon in La Talaudière passes forests, small cascades, clearings, small beaches and a shady path. Birds of prey and herons, among others, can be observed along the banks of the Onzon.
