The Cluny–Le Puy-en-Velay branch of the Way of St James passes through Amions. The Way of St James is a hiking trail marked by the GR65 and numerous variants.
Hiking
The La forêt de Bas circular trail is an easy 9.5-kilometre hike with a duration of three hours. Near Amions, a section of the La forêt de Bas circular trail is signposted, leading along a forest path into the Forêt de Bas.
Nature
The Forêt de Bas covers approximately 500 hectares and is one of the few remaining larger woodland areas in the Forez plain. It consists predominantly of pedunculate oaks, as well as other oak stands and areas of Scots pine. The Forêt de Bas provides a refuge for bats, including the serotine bat and the greater mouse-eared bat, as well as numerous bird species, including the red kite.
History
The former Roanne–Boën Tacot railway line served Amions. Château de Souternon, a castle, is located in the immediate vicinity of Amions. Bonlieu Abbey, a historic site, is located in the wider regional surroundings of Amions. The ruins of Château de Cleppé and the ruins of Château de Couzan are also located in the wider regional surroundings of Amions.

The landscape features Haut de Vitré Sud, Haut de Lamure, Haut de Vitré Nord and Bois de Combe-Malin are located in the wider regional surroundings of Amions. All four are mountains.
Cycling
On its second day, the Mad Jacques cycling route between Roanne and Montbrison passes through Amions and runs between Roanne and Montbrison via the Route des Vins Forez-Roannais en Loire Volcanique.
