Snow and winter trails
The Espace nordique du Barioz has 52 kilometres of cross-country ski trails for skating and classic cross-country skiing. In addition, there are 8 kilometres of marked snowshoe trails and an alpine ski area with a free rope tow for beginners.
The Domaine nordique de Beldina has marked and secured snowshoe trails. The area also includes cross-country ski trails for classic cross-country skiing and skating, walking paths and toboggan runs for small children.
The 7 Laux resort is about 10 minutes from Theys and offers, among other things, a summer alpine coaster, downhill biking, off-road scooters and a high-ropes course.
Culture and local history
The Point Patrimoine of the Écomusée is located in the heart of Theys, in an outbuilding of Château Jail. The Écomusée exhibitions include tools and materials associated with local craft and agricultural activities.
La Meïou is Theys's annual village festival, held on 15 August. The programme includes, among other things, a parade with floats in the afternoon.
The building of Châtel de Theys is closed to the public for safety reasons. In Châtel de Theys, 52 historiated quatrefoil panels tell of Perceval's childhood and his initiation into knighthood.
Nature and trails
On the Bel’Vélec route from Theys, you reach the protected Marais des Bruns area after 5.9 kilometres.
Marais des Bruns is designated as a sensitive natural area (ENS) and is home to more than 400 plant and animal species, including around ten species requiring special protection.
The „Theys – Entre Hameaux – Prairies et Forêts“ hike offers views of the peaks of Belledonne and the valley. It passes protected dry grassland flora with numerous orchids.
