Saint-Martin-Le-Vinoux: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

At the entrance to Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux stands La Casamaures, a listed historic monument. It is protected because of its distinctive Orientalist style and innovative construction using moulded cement. Culture

The Église Saint-Jean-Marie-Vianney was designed by Jean Cognet in 1958. The motifs for its stained-glass windows were created by Gabriel and Jacques Loire, while Elisabeth Meyer created the frescoes. The church is built from exposed concrete; coloured panes of glass alternate with concrete panels in an opening running around the building beneath the roof.

The history of Notre-Dame de l’Annonciation has been documented since the 11th century, while the present-day church was rebuilt in 1826. At the Maison des Moaïs, the town and the associations of Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux offer a varied cultural programme throughout the year for the general public and school groups. A public guided tour of the historic monument is held at La Casamaures on the first Saturday of every month at 2 p.m., with no booking required. A local producers’ market is also held on the Place du Village.

Getting around

In the lower part of the municipality, tram line E serves four stops: Casamaures-Village near Grenoble, Hôtel de Ville, Horloge and Néron. Nature

The batteries at Le Néron are a former military facility dating from the late 19th century that can be visited and includes a tunnel approximately 50 metres long. Le Néron is suitable for climbing and hiking. In the centre of Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux, the Étang Pique-Pierre is designated as a reservoir of biodiversity.

Hiking and cycling

The hiking route “La Bastille et le Jalla depuis Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux” leads from Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux to the Bastille of Grenoble and then to Mont Jalla. It is a difficult 9 km circular hike with 520 metres of ascent.

The “Boucle vélo du Néron” cycling circuit includes more than 500 metres of ascent and a section with a gradient of more than 10 percent, and is therefore reserved for experienced cyclists. In Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux, after the town hall, it runs along the cycle lane on Avenue du Général-Leclerc (D1075).
