La Ferrière: Holiday apartments and houses

Landscape

La Ferrière lies in the heart of the Haut-Bréda Valley, at the foot of the high peaks of the northern Belledonne range. The Les 7 Laux Refuge is located on an island at an altitude of 2,135 m, surrounded by Rocher Blanc, Pic de la Belle Etoile and the clear waters of twelve mountain lakes.

Those planning a stay in La Ferrière may wish to rent a holiday apartment for this purpose.

Activities

In La Ferrière, horseback rides and trail rides are offered in the valley or along the ridges. At Clos de la Vallée Blanche in the hamlet of Le Mollard, visitors can also go cani-hiking and take dog-sled rides on a Dogscooter.

Husky mon Copain offers, by reservation, a themed day including an excursion with dogs – as mushing or cani-hiking – and a guided tour. The offer is available from April to the end of November.

Culture and history

The Grange de l'Épinay is a typical 18th-century barn. La Ferrière has old troughs and fountains, including in the hamlets of Gibergy, Grand Thiervoz, Petit Thiervoz and Bourgeat.

The chapels at the entrance to La Ferrière include the Chapelle de l'Épinay and the Chapelle Notre Dame des sept douleurs. Iron production, which gave the village of La Ferrière its name, was initially carried out by hand and was later developed by the ironmasters of Allevard.

The “Le Tour de la Vallée du Haut Bréda” hike passes hamlets and barns regarded as witnesses to La Ferrière’s past.

Getting there

La Martinette can be reached by public transport via the Proximo line 86 from Grenoble to Allevard, followed by Flexo bus 79 or Estibus N98.
