The Espace Pasteur houses the Fabrique Musicale, covering an area of 508 m², as well as a 180 m² auditorium where exhibitions and conferences, among other events, can be held. Culture and History
The restored Château du Colombier can be visited on Heritage Days. Notre Dame d'Heyrieux was built at its present location in 1894. Its bell tower contains two bells: one dates from 1789, is considered the oldest in the Isère département and weighs 459 kg; the second dates from 1817 and weighs 199 kg. The former church in Heyrieux, described as “conventuelle”, was once a pilgrimage destination, particularly on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary.
Landscape and Religious Sites
The Notre-Dame de la Salette oratory was built above Heyrieux to commemorate the apparition of the Virgin Mary on 19 September 1846 in La Salette in the Isère département, near Corps. It consists of four cylindrical stone columns supporting a flat roof with three white-painted cast-iron statues on a high stone pedestal. Notre-Dame de la Salette offers a panorama over the Lyon plain as well as views of the foothills of Grenay, Satolas, Colombier and Crémieu, the Montagnes de l’Huis and the Jura noir. On 19 September, the anniversary of the apparition, numerous worshippers continue to climb in procession to Notre-Dame de la Salette to pray there.
Trails and Parks
Heyrieux’s municipal hiking information offers outings on foot, on horseback and by bicycle. These outings combine the discovery of landscapes with local heritage such as chapels, market halls and fortified houses. The hiking trails are signposted with yellow directional markings in accordance with the PDIPR charter.
The Parc de la Fraternité is Heyrieux’s public fitness trail. It has play areas for children and is completely fenced. In the wider region around Heyrieux, the Coll’in hiking network extends over more than 250 km and ten municipalities.
