Hiking
In Gières, the hiking loop starts at Fort du Murier, directly at Fort du Murier. It combines forest and meadow landscapes with views of the mountain ranges surrounding the Grenoble metropolitan area. The loop is 4 km long, has an elevation gain of 152 metres, takes around 2 hours and is classified as an easy route.
Another hike, “De Gières au col du Gourlu”, leads to the heights above Fort du Murier and offers views of three mountain ranges as well as the Isère Valley.

Culture and history
The Château de Gières was recorded in an inventory from 1339. In the heart of Parc Charly-Guibbaud lies the Laussy cultural venue, which has space for 300 spectators.
The former Château de Gières is now a ruin. The historic complex comprised a square tower, a large reception hall, a chapel, outbuildings and a curtain wall.
The “Vendredis artisans et Gourmands” market focuses on artisanal products and is not exclusively a food market.
Cycling and riverbanks
The Parcours Castor is a small, green loop that can be ridden by bicycle or balance bike. It runs past agricultural land along the banks of the Isère and is classified as an easy loop.
Green spaces
Parc Michal is a green space in the centre of Gières. It is served by bus routes 21 and 41 at the Place de la République stop.
