Chozeau: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A 2.2-kilometre family hiking trail for beginners runs as a circular route around the Étang de Chalignieu in Chozeau. The trail is open daily all year round and freely accessible.

Nature

The wetland at the Étang de Chalignieu is home to a significant colony of greater water-crowfoot, which is considered particularly rare in Isère. The European pond turtle has also been observed several times at the Étang de Chalignieu and was confirmed there in 2018.

Trails

The local circular trails in Chozeau are marked with yellow arrows and regular paint markings on rocks, trees or other surfaces. The GR 422 also runs near the Étang de Chalignieu, following in the footsteps of Charles IX and the French court.

Culture

The Eglise de Chozeau was built in the mid-19th century. The Pierre à cupules de Chozeau is an erratic boulder with a cup-marked stone above the hamlet of Boirieu; since 26 November 2007, it has been listed as a historic monument by decree.

The Château de Poizieu is privately owned and not open to visitors. Its oldest section dates from the 14th century and includes a narrow cylindrical tower with machicolations. The Maison forte de Boirieu dominates the plain with an extensive building complex that includes a large square tower.
