History
The Chapelle de Gys was founded in 1653 and rebuilt in 1864. From 2009 to 2012, it was extensively renovated and fitted with new works of art, including a mosaic by Claude MARIN and modern stained-glass windows by Joëlle VULLIEZ-MATRINGE.
The Halle du Biot still stands in the centre of the village today and is a reminder of the former importance of fairs and markets to the valley.
Local life
At Alpage d'Etelly, visitors can watch the Abondance cows being milked free of charge every evening at around 6 p.m. while the cows are present from June to September. At Ferme des Cottets, cheese is sold daily from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
