Culture and History
Château de Beauregard is partly protected as a historic monument; the protection covers the façades and roofs. Its main construction phases date back to the 12th, 14th, 15th and 18th centuries. Chens-sur-Léman's historical heritage also includes Les Granges de Servette. There, contemporary art, folk crafts, collections of tools and traditional objects from Chablais come together.
At Port de Tougues, the archaeological remains of a prehistoric pile-dwelling settlement are classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They provide evidence of a prehistoric lakeside settlement dating from between the 12th and 10th centuries BC. The Église Sainte Anne is a Sardinian neoclassical church that was rebuilt in 1827 after its destruction during the French Revolution. The landing stage at Port de Tougues dates from 1864.
Nature
Chens-sur-Léman has approximately 5 km of lakeshore. Château de Beauregard includes a 25-hectare English landscape park on the shores of Lake Geneva. Within the municipality, the Lac Léman Natura 2000 site includes both an aquatic and a terrestrial area.
Port de Tougues offers an exceptional panorama of Lake Geneva and Switzerland. Plage de Beauregard can be reached via a footpath along the lakeshore towards Château de Beauregard and below the château.
Paths and Activities
The Boucle de Beauregard is accessible every day all year round, and access is free. The walking route leads from the shores of Lake Geneva through the landscape of Chens-sur-Léman to the Musée des Granges de Servette. The starting point is the Tougues car park in Chens-sur-Léman.
The GRP® Littoral du Léman hiking trail also ends in Chens-sur-Léman. At Plage de Tougues, the water sports centre offers children and adults a variety of water sports activities.
By the Lake
Plage de Tougues has a landscaped picnic area on the lakeshore.
