Tain-L'hermitage: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Tain-l'Hermitage combines an important ecclesiastical history with paths through the wine-growing landscape and experiences centred around chocolate. The Church of Notre-Dame was rebuilt between 1811 and 1838 on the ruins of the Notre-Dame church of a Cluniac priory. It was the setting for the wedding, celebrated in 1350, of the future French King Charles V and Jeanne de Bourbon.
Those choosing Tain-l'Hermitage as a holiday destination can plan their stay with the aim of renting a holiday apartment.
Culture
The carillon in the Church of Notre-Dame has 13 bells. These include a 1.5-tonne bourdon bell with a diameter of 1.20 metres, dating from the year 1000 and recast in 1644.
The Passerelle Marc Seguin, reserved exclusively for pedestrians, dates from 1849. The Porte de la Bâtie, with its Tour des Adrets, is a preserved example of the medieval fortifications and was recently restored.
The footpath from Place du Taurobole to the Hermitage Chapel takes around 45 minutes and leads to the summit, which offers views. The Chapelle Hermitage Paul Jaboulet Aîné was built around 1100 and can be reached via a hiking trail that begins in Tain-l'Hermitage.
