Nature and trails
There are numerous marked trails for hiking in Montrigaud. Montrigaud is also home to a forest used by mushroom pickers.
Culture and history
The Church of Saint-Romain in Montrigaud partly dates back to the 9th century; it was extended and renovated over the centuries. An old cemetery shaded by lime trees surrounds the church.
The remains of the “Os d’un Géant” were discovered in Montrigaud in the 19th century. After examination, they were interpreted as the bones of an elephant or another mastodon that lived several thousand years ago.
The Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval monument and the Abbaye Notre-Dame du Sacré-Coeur de Chambarand are located in the surrounding area of Montrigaud.
Nature by the water
At Étang de Jeanne-Maria, there is a fishing area where carp, pike and small fish can be caught. There is also a picnic area shaded by trees.
Geographical setting
In the wider regional surroundings of Montrigaud are the historic site of Abbaye du Val-de-Bressieux and the historic site of Abbaye Notre-Dame-des-Anges de Saint-Just-de-Claix.
