Montguers: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lavender is the most important cultivated crop in Montguers. At the same time, the Ouvèze River runs through the village, while the green municipality is surrounded by mountains. Renting a holiday apartment in Montguers reflects a desire for accommodation located in the village itself.

Montguers consists of two hamlets: Bas-Montguers and Haut-Montguers. The two parts of the village are separated by the church. Traditionally restored stone houses give the village a typically Provençal appearance. A stone fountain stands in the centre of Bas-Montguers.

Culture

L’Herbier à Couleur is located in an old mill in 26170 Montguers. From July to September, L’Herbier à Couleur offers visits to a dye garden. In the workshop, visitors can work with plant-based dyes and try out traditional and ecological craft techniques. The workshop also offers all visitors workshops on dye plants, indigo and plant-based ink, including a historical introduction and practical activities.

The Église Saint-Arnoux is a tourist attraction in Montguers. According to local tradition, an old village was built above the present village and abandoned in the 16th century. Ruins remain at the site of this former upper village, including the identifiable ruins of a church.

Landscape and Trails

The Route de la Lavande passes through the village of Montguers before climbing to the Col de Peyruergue. Montguers can be reached via the Départementale 65. On the Route de la Lavande, the village is signposted at kilometre 94.4 on the D65 towards St Auban-sur-l’Ouvèze.

The hike “La Croix de Roussieux et La Clavelière” offers views of the Eygues Valley, the peaks of the Vercors, the Alpine range, Mont Ventoux, Chamouse Mountain and the Ouvèze Valley.
